This pendant is inspired by a line from Gertrude Stein's poem Sacred Emily in Tender Buttons, written in 1913. The poem was published in the collection Geography and Play - now in the public domain and available for free from Project Gutenberg. Stein was an American novelist, poet, playwright, and art collector known for her Paris salons where leading figures of modernism in literature and art would meet.
