Frequently Asked Questions
What’s the story behind KANAREK?
It all started with artist Yael Kanarek’s multifaceted fascination with languages―coded, spoken, and written―which led her to consider the body as a site of expression. Inspired by her ongoing integrated media project World of Awe, she created her first piece of text jewelry using a line of a love letter: I found the key to extreme beauty. This marked the birth of a new jewelry company, KANAREK.
Where is your jewelry made?
All pieces are designed in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, then produced in Manhattan’s famous Diamond District.
Where can I see your collection in-person?
Our studio is located in East Williamsburg, Brooklyn at 55 Meadow Street. Write to us if you’re interested in stopping by and we’ll set up a viewing for you. Also, take a look at our Stockists to see if there’s a museum or boutique carrying our collection near you.
Who are you inspired by?
Artwork by the early modernists like Hilma Af Klint and El Lissitzky; prose from The Old Testament and James Joyce; Walt Whitman and Gertrude Stein’s poetry; revolutionaries throughout history who have contributed to an ongoing artistic, poetic, and global dialogue. We are also inspired by current events and the call to support organizations doing vital work to promote democracy, inclusivity, and feminism.
When should I expect my jewelry?
After your order is received and processed, we begin production immediately. Since most pieces from our collection are made to order, we need 2-3 weeks to ship your order.
